CD / DVD Drive Not Installed

Problem: Your DVD / CD drive will not install.  In 'My Computer' it does not show up, in 'Device Manager' it has a yellow exclamation point next to it.  I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating firmware, etc, nothing worked.  But then I found the solution:
  1. Click stat and then click Run.
  2. Type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. In the right pane, right click on 'UpperFilters' and click Delete.
  5. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
  6. In the right pane, right click on 'LowerFilters' and click Delete.
  7. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
  8. Exit Registry Editor.
  9. Restart the computer.

This solution has worked twice for me, I hope it works for.  Hat tip to: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-software/1233479.htm
