VLOOKUP only search for X number of characters

VLOOKUP only search for X number of characters

=VLOOKUP(LEFT(D:D,5),vlook!A:B,2,FALSE)

Highlighted area specifies that vlookup will just look at the first 5 characters, from the left, when performing the lookup.
